ORANGE CARROT AND GINGER JUICE

Orange carrot and ginger juice is a great way to get all those immune boosting vitamins and antioxidants into your system.  It is alway better to eat fruit whole to absorb all the nutrients that the food has to offer.  However, juicing can take pressure off of the digestive system giving you all the goodness you need in one hit.

WHY IS ORANGE CARROT AND GINGER JUICE GOOD FOR YOU?

This juice is packed with vitamin C and A and antioxidants.  As well as supporting immune function, it helps reduce inflammation and boost the body’s response to using fat as fuel.  It also produces collagen which supports connective tissue health and helps protect eye and bone health.   As well as supplying your system with vitamins and minerals, oranges provide half a glass of water (4oz), keeping you super hydrated throughout the day.

Ginger – Ginger is a natural antibacterial that helps ward off germs, fights disease, keeps your mouth healthy, lowers cholesterol and lowers blood sugar levels. Ginger also aids digestion, nausea, relieves muscle pain and arthritis.

HOW TO MAKE ORANGE CARROT AND GINGER JUICE

Peel the oranges and the ginger and cut off the ends of the carrots.  Take out the juicer, plug it in and place a jug underneath the nozzle.  Place the items into the feed and start the juicer and press the fruit down with the pusher.   Re-load the feed when it is empty and continue until all the fruit is done.

Stir the juice in the jug and pour 8 fluid ounces (1 cup) into a glass.  Enjoy!

HOW TO STORE AND MAKE AHEAD

This recipe makes about 5 servings, you can leave the juice in the jug and put it in the fridge for later that day.  The juice will separate so be sure to give a stir when you fancy your next glass.

It is best to drink the juice within 12-24 hours one day of making as the nutritional value will decrease over time, if the juice goes brown then it’s time to throw that away and make a fresh batch.

If you make a lot of juice you can always pour it into a plastic container and store it in the freezer.  If you do this then fill the bottle almost up to the top so that the liquid has room to expand.  Try not to leave it in the freezer too long as the nutritional value of the drink will decrease over time.
